Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the pathophysiology of burn injury and the mechanism and components of burn-related pain.
  2. Explain the various analgesic options for management of burn-related pain, including the advantages and disadvantages of nonopioid agents.
  3. Identify and manage opioid-induced hyperalgesia.
