Purpose of Activity

To provide information on the potential for errors when documenting vital signs (VSs) by a variety of methods.

Learning Objectives

After completing this continuing education activity you will be able to:

  1. Discover the differences between the frequency and types of potential errors and the time it takes to document VS by a variety of methods.
  2. Analyze the pros and cons of implementing and using a wireless system to input VS into an electronic medical record (EMR).
  3. Identify the differences between the use of the initial paper documentation system and the wireless system used in this study.
