Purpose of Activity

To provide information on the development and implementation of a system-wide process to assess competences and competencies of registered nurses working in oncology ambulatory clinics and infusion centers.

Learning Objectives

After completing this continuing education activity you will be able to:

  1. Identify criteria that define competence and a competence validation process for oncology nurses.
  2. Examine an approach to assessing selected competencies pertinent to oncology nursing practice.
  3. Evaluate the process for deciding on which competences and competencies to assess and the factors that facilitate successful implementation of a competence and competency assessment program.
