Purpose of Activity

To provide information on the use of advanced practitioners (APs) in performing Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) peer reviews.

Learning Objectives

After completing this continuing education activity you will be able to:

  1. Evaluate the use of the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF) record review guidelines and the integration of APs into trauma care.
  2. Examine the results from Phase I of the study evaluating APs' review of trauma cases.
  3. Select results from Phase II of the study examining the concurrent review of trauma cases by both an AP and an MD.
